I finished my Highland Triangle Shawl (Folk Shawls) and I had promised both myself and Thomasina that the next knitting project would be my Shadow Shawl.
Thankfully, I knew exactly where I had stashed my yarn, and quickly found the pattern - no small feat because I have recently rearranged (or rejunked, depends upon how one looks at it) my craft/computer room.
So, here are some pics of my start as of this a.m.:
That 2nd photo should show how the diagonals are working up (squint a bit and you may be able to see it). It won't be a very blatant diagonal/chevron, because the yarns are very similar in color and there isn't a lot of contrast. I am using Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport in Vera and Lana Grossa Meilenweit in a maroonish color - both sock weight yarns. I have enough of both that I could make this up with more repeats than the pattern calls for - in case it seems smallish. I don't imagine this is the type of knit that one would block much, so the final size should be very close to the pre-blocked size.
This is one addicting knit! Once I got my mind around the pattern (if you are knitting it up, the hints are where it is at) - it is proving to be the type of knitting I can just tote-around without having to drag along a pattern, or refer to the chart.
I can see myself making several of these, and since it is only July now yet, I would have time if I wanted to make a few up for Yule gifts.
